I am Tamarrah Phillips, founder of DYHN-YOGA & DYHN FITNESS. I live in sunny Central Florida and I am passionate about my family and ministry. I have been married to my amazing husband for over 29 years and we have three wonderful children, and six beautiful grandchildren (with one on the way). I am part of The Rock of Central Florida, a unique life-filled ministry located in Sanford, FL where I am the Assistant Director for Kidz Rock Early Learning Center. I love spending time with my family, meeting new people, and discovering new ways to learn and create. I have discovered the amazing benefits of uniting spirit, mind, soul, and body; IN Christ through the practice of DYHN-YOGA. I am always open and willing to share what I believe is a treasure and gift from God, with all who are willing to learn and grow.

I am a Certified Trainer with the Christian Yoga Association and have over 2 years experience teaching Christian Yoga Classes. I have enjoyed cultivating and growing the Christian Fitness Community in Central Florida. But, how did I get here? Well, as a Christian woman, ministry has been at the center of my life since the age of 18. I was raised to fully embrace a personal relationship with Christ that involved living a Spirit-filled life. However, many of the religious teachings and perspectives I had embraced for many years shunned any form of Yoga practice, as it was deemed pagan or new age. This was mainly due to the common belief that Yoga has roots in Hinduism and Buddhism.

I was always drawn to prayer, intercession, and the limitless gifting's of Holy Spirit. Therefore, I naturally understood that we, as humans, are Spirit dwelling in a physical body with a living soul and a mind. And God, from the beginning, has always given us the gift of choice. However, due to the stigmas I grew up believing about yoga, I stayed far away from anything that would be considered related to or connected to practicing yoga.

In 2014, I felt a strong direction from Holy Spirit to look at a documentary about a well-known yoga teacher. Although I was confident in hearing and heeding the direction of Holy Spirit, the religion that was so deeply rooted in my beliefs kept me from looking at the documentary for many weeks. As time passed by, the unchaining became so strong that I couldn’t continue to ignore what Holy Spirit had instructed me to do. I finally revealed what I was hearing to my husband and asked him for his wisdom and insight. After considering, he reminded me not to be afraid, and to be

confident in what Holy Spirit was leading me into, even if it didn’t seem to make sense at the time. He lovingly reminded me that we as believers are IN Christ, and He is IN us. And, if Holy Spirit is leading, hear and obey His voice. After he released this wisdom to me, I watched the documentary and discovered that Yoga was never meant to be boxed into a religious system; be it Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. The root principles of the practice stemmed from simple God-given truths regarding the care for our Spirit, mind, soul, and body.

From that time forward, I began to purposefully integrate silence and quieting the mind during my times of prayer and intercession. I experienced expanded clarity during these times. Several years passed before I began practicing the physical postures or poses, known as asanas in Sanskrit terms. In 2019, I went to my first Yoga class, and I have not looked back.

I have enjoyed sharing this life-changing practice, and the revelation that what the world has known as yoga, is not absent from the God we serve, but that we as believers and followers of Christ can redeem what religion distorts, back to His original intent. When we practice, we are right in the the center of who He is, and His original intent for us to be united with Him in spirit, mind, soul and body. From what God has shown me through DYHN-YOGA, I have come to realize and understand that being united in Christ, body, soul, mind and spirit is for all fitness forms. It is my joy to join with you as we embark on our rewarding fitness journey!
